The Equality Standard ('The Standard') is a cost effective, practical, non-bureaucratic, easy to use tool, designed to help your organisation show that it is an employer that clearly values equality and diversity.

The Standard will help your organisation to:

Achieve fairness and enhance equality and diversity in the workplace;
Achieve tangible business benefits;
Understand and comply with equality legislation and sector specific standards;
Reduce the risk of discrimination litigation;
Meet the equality criteria necessary to tender for public sector contracts.

Who should apply for The Standard?

The Standard is for organisations of all sizes and from all sectors. It is for any organisation that wishes to visibly demonstrate to its employees, funders, volunteers, customers and community that they actively promote equality and value diversity in all that they do.

Why would The Standard be useful to my organisation?

The business case for equality is strong. Whatever your business or organisation (whether commercial, public sector or not for profit), it pays to know about equality and diversity - to act within the law and to make the best of your workforce, volunteers and your business opportunities.
