The Novas Group has developed a strong reputation for delivery of quality housing and community-based services, and for new and innovative approaches to working with people who experience inequality and discrimination. Dhek Bhal - Bristol/ South Glos

Dhek Bhal has been responding to the particular needs of South Asian people in Bristol and South Gloucestershire since 1987. We are a local charity and offer help and support in many different ways, including running culturally sensitive services and activities, giving advice to individuals and organisations, and advocating on behalf of those who find it difficult to access the services they are entitled to and need. Our work benefits many of the most vulnerable people in our communities who are isolated and disadvantaged because of their culture, religion or language.

Exeter University - Black & Minority Ethnic Communities in the workplace

Researchers from Exeter University havelooked at the challenges that some equalities communities face in the workplace. This groundbreaking research into (if and) how being marginalised affects professionals started in June 2006 with small focus groups and one-on-one interviews to explore the themes and issues surrounding individuals and groups from Black & Minority Ethnic, LGBT, Disabled and Parental returnees to work (after a childcare break).  To read the report please see: Recruitment & Retention

Race for Opportunity (RfO)

This is a network of private and public sector organisations working across the UK to promote the business case for race and diversity.  The RfO works with organisations across four key areas of business activity; employment, marketing, supplier diversity, community involvement..

Black South West Network (BSWN)

The BSWN aims to provide access to information on policy and funding programmes, to unlock further funds for the sector at a regional level along with advocating effectively, increase the effectiveness of the sector through the provision of advice, information, training, representation, publications and development services.

Council of Ethnic Minority Voluntary Sector Organisation (CEMVO) - South West Branch

CEMVO SW has been engaged in the social regeneration of the ethnic minority voluntary and community sector in the region by raising funds and bringing resources into the sector and raising awareness for emerging issues.  They have a South West branch based in Bristol.

Support Against Racist Incidents (S.A.R.I.)

S.A.R.I. is voluntary black-led agency run by people who have suffered racial harassment.  It aims to support & empower victims of racial harassment, to ensure that racial incidents receive a co-ordinated response from statutory & voluntary agencies, to raise awareness of the nature & extent of racial incidents through education, to provide training and guidance on tackling racial incidents and to participate in formulating and monitoring anti-racist policies.
