Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays

Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (FLLAG) is a continually growing national voluntary organisation and registered charity with 18 telephone helplines across the UK and parents' groups which hold regular meetings.FFLAG is dedicated to supporting parents and their gay, lesbian and bisexual sons and daughters. FFLAG offers support to local parents groups and contacts, in their efforts to help parents and families understand  accept and support their lesbian gay and bisexual members with love and pride.

Exeter University - LGBT and the workplace

Researchers from Exeter University are currently looking at the challenges that some equalities communities face in the workplace. This groundbreaking research into (if and) how being marginalised affects professionals starts in June 2006 with small focus groups and one-on-one interviews to explore the themes and issues surrounding individuals and groups from Black & Minority Ethnic, LGBT, Disabled and Parental returnees to work (after a childcare break).

Somerset Gay Health

Somerset Gay health have been working for almost twenty years on issues affecting the LGBT community in Somerset.  Initially set up as an AIDS advice and guidance service they changed and evolved over that time to address the needs of LGBT people living across the County.  They can offer a wide range of services including a dedicated advice and guidance helpline, support groups, one-to-one support, Sexual Health advice and buddying to GUM, free condoms, Advocacy, Equality and Diversity training and bespoke training packages for employers and much more.  They also have a dedicated Youth Worker and Free counselling service.

Intercom Trust - Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and Somerset

Intercom is a lesbian gay bisexual and trans community resource in Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and Somerset, providing help against homophobic and transphobic prejudice, crime and discrimination (including bullying, harassment, abuse, attacks, and threatening behaviour), helping to develop the LGB/T communities, providing professional training and consultancy, and working in partnership with local government, the police and health professionals.  They also have a help line: 0845 60 20 818.

Outback - Newsletter for Lesbians in Cornwall and the far South West of England

So Out in the South West is a organisation set up to meet the needs of disabled gay men living, working or visiting the South West.  They host events throughout the South West and further afield for disabled gay men, the aim of which are to allow disabled gay men to socialise with one another is a safe environment with the correct support for those needing it and to create a space in which to discuss ideas without prejudice.

Pride Youth - Swindon

Pride Youth in Swindon is for any person between the ages of 13-21 who is lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or unsure of their sexuality.  Their aim is to provide a safe, confidential and relaxed environment to meet new people, make new friends, talk about issues or discuss forthcoming events.  They also offer a monthly parental support group.

GayWest

This organisation provides a variety of events at members houses, including for regular socials and film nights as well as one-offs like mulled wine evenings, bonfire night fireworks and Halloween parties.  They also run the Rainbow Cafe every Saturday morning in Bath and produce a monthly magazine.
