The South West Gender Equality Network's primary focus is to ensure that:
- The voices of SW women are effective in influencing gender equality policies and practices within regional, national and European structures;
- Individuals and organisations within the Network are properly consulted on and involved in the development and implementation of the Gender Equality Schemes of Public Authorities within the region;
- Data necessary to measure and monitor gender-related equality issues is collected and made accessible at regional level;
- Regional strategies are ‘gender-proofed’ and, as a minimum, comply with the Public and Specific Duties to be laid out in the 2009 Equality Act;
- Equality South West is fully informed on gender discrimination issues;
- Equality legislation relevant to gender is embedded in all aspects of the region’s institutional and organisational policies and practices and monitored appropriately.
