BBC - 'Equality for Women'

The clip opens with a description of the laws passed from the 1970s onwards that outlawed discrimination against women. This is contrasted with the fact that attitudes were slow to change and this was reflected in the advertising of the period, with advertisements which would today be seen as outrageously sexist. The challenge of managing family and a career is also covered. There is an assessment of exactly how far the role and status of women has changed, differentiating between women of different socioeconomic groups.
