28th January - British Institute of Human Rights Annual Conference - London
The purpose of this one day conference is to stimulate fresh thinking about human rights. It will examine how human rights are portrayed and how we can challenge negative perceptions, myths and misunderstandings. It will look at the role of a range of actors - public, third sector and wider civil society - in promoting a new image of human rights that shows their value and relevance for everyone. Delegates will have the opportunity to engage in the ‘live’ human rights debates of our times, and look at the contribution made by the arts, media, campaigns and wider civil society action. 28th January - Access Sport Ability Day - Bath
This day is open to adults with physical disability, learning difficulties and/or mental ill-health - of all abilities. There will be Taster Sessions in the sports of Boccia, Wheelchair Basketball, Tennis, Rugby, Football, Dance, including Wheelchair Dance, Judo and swimming will be on offer at different times throughout the day (a full programme will be produced nearer the time). There will also be demonstration events. The day will be held at Bath Sports and Leisure Centre from 11am - 3.30pm.
