Bringing Equality, Community Cohesion and Well Being in Schools - 4th December - London
This one-day national conference will draw together teachers, practitioners and policy-makers from schools, local authorities, voluntary and community organisations and other related sectors to stimulate ideas and practice on the role of schools in promoting race equality, community cohesion and well-being. Achieving Equality - 8th December - Bath
Bath and North East Somerset Council is hosting for the South West region a briefing on the new Equality Framework for Local Government. The speaker will be Angela Mason (OBE), National Advisor on equality and diversity for the IDeA.
This briefing has been organised to ensure elected members, officers and partners are fully informed and prepared for the changes in the national approach to equality. During the next year, local authorities must not just respond to a new Equality Bill, but also implement a new performance tool - the Equality Framework for Local Government. This event will help us all to focus on how we can manage, measure and improve equality outcomes in our local authority areas.

Young Roots Lottery Application - 9th December - Taunton - FREE
Young Roots is a Heritage Lottery Fund grant scheme that can help young people explore and celebrate history, heritage and culture. Grants are available for up to £25,000 and the programme is open to both statutory and voluntary youth organisations, with 100% project funding available. This one day session run by the Youth Work Unit and Heritage Lottery will hopefully provide you with everything you need to know to make a successful funding application. The event is open to anyone working with young people aged 13–25 years in the voluntary or statutory sector. The day will run from 10.00 am until 3.00 pm, with lunch and refreshments provided.
