Age

From Equality South West

Supported by Equality South West, the Age Equality Network brings together individuals and organisations committed to addressing age discrimination and inequality, whether it is faced by older or younger people.

Who we are

Members include representatives from older person's forums, young person's reps and organisations that work with or for younger and older people (such as, older person's charities and local authority children and young person's directorates).

We strive to ensure:

  • A greater awareness of age equality issues and how they affect people of all ages.
  • That age equality polices and practices are embedded in all aspects of the region's institutional and organisational policies and practices.
  • Closer cooperation between younger and older people around addressing issues around age discrimination and areas of 'age related' multiple discrimination.
  • Data necessary to measure and monitor age related equality issues is collected and made accessible at regional level.
  • Regional strategies are 'age-proofed'.
