Trade Unions
Equality South West's website aims to provide information about trade union equalities policies and who to contact on equality, diversity and human rights issues in the South West.
Tim Lezard, of the NUJ Chairs the South West Regional TUC says:
“Equality is at the heart of all we believe in as trade unionists. We believe in working for a world where everyone is treated the same and everyone has the same opportunities. To achieve this takes a lot of work. Many barriers need breaking down to pave the way for a society that doesn’t discriminate against someone because of their age, beliefs, gender, race, sexual orientation or disability. As trade unions, working hand in hand with Equality South West, we have the power and the strength in numbers to achieve those goals.”
TUC
The TUC is a single body that brings together 59 affiliated unions across the UK, representing nearly six and a half million people. They campaign for a fair deal at work and for social justice at home and abroad . Campaigning against discrimination at work and in wider society is at the heart of the TUC's concerns and they work closely with Equality South West on these issues.
You can find out more about the TUC’s work on equal rights for women and men and part-timers, equality for black workers, lesbian and gay rights, disability issues and age equality at www.tuc.org.uk.
