Getting Equal: Proposals to outlaw sexual orientation discrimination in the provision of goods and services - Government response to consultation - Published 7th March 2007

The response sets out the Government's decisions on proposals to outlaw discriminiation on the grounds of sexual orientation in the provision of goods, facilities, services and the exercise of public functions, in light of the views expressed by respondents to the consultation process.  The report is produced by the Department for Communities and Local Government.

Tackling Hate Crime: Homophobic Hate Crime - A guide produced by the Home Office published December 2006

This is one of a series of guides designed to share ideas about tackling hate crime and hate incidents.  The ideas are based as far as possible on notable practice found around the UK and discussions with a wide range of practitioners.  Although, in most cases, they have not been rigorously evaluated, they are reported to have been successful in tackling hate crime and incidents.  This guide focuses on homophobic hate crime, detailing the problems associated with it and solutions to tackling it.

A Firmer Foundation - A project of The Intercom Trust and CEDAR (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Expereince, Data, Analysis and Research - September 2006

The survey is one step - not the first, and not the last - towards building up a profile of the demographics of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people and communities in the rural peninsula, and mapping the differences and similarities in our varied attitudes, experiences and needs.

The Equality Act (Sexual Orientation) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2006

The regulation banning discrimination in goods and services on grounds of sexual orientation has been published in Northern Ireland, where it comes into force on 1st January 2007.  The text can be found at http://www.opsi.gov.uk/sr/sr2006/20060439.htm.

Lifting the Lid on Sexuality and Ageing - A report by "Gay and Grey" in Dorset, for older lesbian and gay people

This report represents the findings of a three-year action research project, funded by the Big Lottery Fund, which explored the needs, experiences and aspirations of older lesbians and gay men in Bournemouth, Poole and Dorset between June 2003 and September 2006.  This Partcipatory Action Research Project (PAR) was undertaken by a group of older volunteers, with the support of a project worker, employed by Help and Care, and by a senior lecturer at Bournemouth University.

Broken Rainbow - Providing Support from Domestic Abuse

This charity has a helpline and provides support for victims and survivors of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender abuse.  They can be contacted on Monday and Thursdays between 2 pm - 8 pm and on Wednesdays between 10 am - 1 pm.  Their confidential helpline number is 08452 60 44 60

Sexual Orientation, Religion or Belief and Age Employment Equality Project - DVD

This DVD explains the Employment Equality (Sexual Orientation) regulations which were introduced in December 2003 and describes how they protect people in the workplace.
