GOSW LAA Project
As part of an ongoing dialogue with the Government Office for the South West (GOSW), about the need to embed equality and diversity (E&D) in Local Area Agreements (LAAs), Equality South West has undertaken a piece of work to determine the extent to which effective consultation has taken place around E&D, in developing LAAs across the South West.
This important piece of work has looked at how the recent round of LAAs has been developed. The outcomes from this project will not influence the 2008 LAAs, but will be fed into an improvement plan to be used in the development of future agreements. The full report and appendices, short report and executive summary can all be accessed via the links below.
We recognise that the report is a snapshot based on information gleaned from questionnaires and we are aware that it does not capture all the activity taking place in each area. However we think that the main findings should prompt Local Strategic Partnerships to review aspects of their current arrangements with respect to equalities.
We are very keen to highlight and spread examples of good practice but are also happy to provide support to help improve current practice. We would be interested to receive further information about your work on equalities in which case please contact jo.sweeney@gosw.gsi.gov.uk or Tel: 01752 635151
