Creating:excellence

Creating:excellence is the South West centre for sustainable communities.  It aims to build the skills and knowledge of people working for sustainable development, regeneration and renewal in the South West of England.  To meet the needs of such a diverse group of people, Creating:excellence links learning and networking opportunities across design, evidence and funding arenas.

Commission for Equalities and Human Rights

The new Commission will be a Non-Departmental Public Body (NDPB) and independent influential champion whose purpose is to reduce inequality, eliminate discrimination, strengthen good relations between people and protect human rights.

The CEHR will take an active role in helping to achieve change to benefit some of the most vulnerable and least well represented people in our society.

Jobcentre Plus South West

Jobcentre Plus is a government agency supporting people of working age from welfare into work, and helping employers to fill their vacancies.  We are part of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and play a major role in supporting the Department’s aim to ‘promote opportunity and independence for all through modern, customer-focused services’.

SAVAGE

SAVAGE (Southern Association of Voluntary Action Groups for Europe) is an infrastructure organisation covering the south of England; an area incorporating fifteen counties and thirteen million people. It is funded largely through the European Union and the Department of Communities and Local Government.

SAVAGE was established to ensure that voluntary and community sector (VCS) groups had access and were able to exploit European Social Fund grants, with a focus on assisting these organisations in tackling disadvantage for the benefit of their end users.

Equality North East

Established in 1994, Equality North East Ltd was part of a national initiative supported by the Department for Employment and Education (DfEE) and the Equal Opportunities Commission. It became an independent, not for profit organisation in 1997 with a general aim of working toward removing the barriers to employment for all, ultimately improving economic and social life within the region.

Government Office for the South West

Government Office for the South West (GOSW) aims to make the South West a better place to live and work, now and in the future.  We work to achieve sustainable growth and to develop safe and prosperous communities that meet the diverse needs of everyone who lives and works here.  To achieve this we put Government policy into practice at local level, implementing key programmes and initiatives in partnership with regional and local organisations and provide feedback to central Government that helps inform future policy.

South West Forum

South West Forum was established in 1999 to ensure that voluntary and community organisations have a strong and effective champion at regional level.

The Forum's key role is to be an active and dynamic influence in the region ensuring that the voluntary and community sectors are genuinely engaged in developing and influencing policy.

Working closely with regional bodies, including the Regional Assembly, South West Regional Development Agency and Government Office South West, the Forum seeks to raise understanding of the importance of the voluntary and community sector to the social and economic life of the region.

South West Regional Assembly

The South West Regional Assembly is a partnership of councillors from all local authorities in the region and representatives of various sectors with a role in the region's economic, social and environmental well-being.

It covers an area of 23,829 square kilometres from Gloucestershire, Dorset and Wiltshire to the Isles of Scilly, and represents a population of almost five million.

Full Assembly Meetings are usually held in Devon County Hall, Exeter, and are open to the public. To find out more about the Regional Assembly, download an information leaflet here.

South West Regional Development Agency

Our goal is to improve the economy of South West England. This involves giving people the skills they need, encouraging enterprise and improving communications. We also promote the strengths of the region and help people to regenerate their communities. All our work is guided by the Regional Economic Strategy 2006-2015.

Voluntary Sector Training Alliance (VISTA)

ViSTA specialises in providing education and training (for staff and volunteers of voluntary and community sector organisations and community learners).  We also deliver capacity building programmes for the voluntary and community sector.

We are an emerging voluntary sector learning consortium.  We provide services that support the voluntary and community sector (VCS) to engage more effectively in education, training and personal development programmes.  We receive funding from Somerset LSC.

ViSTA works in association with the Somerset Voluntary Sector Network.
